Plumeria - Frangipani Plants

Plumeria plants, which are also known for their Lei flowers and Fragrance, are actually trees that are native to tropical regions. Plumeria flowers from these beautiful plants are used in making traditional Hawaiian leis. They are highly fragrant and bloom from spring through fall in multiple colors like white, yellow, pink, red and rainbows. Plumeria produce large-leaved foliage, which may be evergreen or deciduous, depending on the type. Plumeria will normally go dormant when daylight shortens and temperatures fall. They must be protected from frost and cold. Frost can damage the branch tips and freezing temperatures can kill the plant.

Plumeria can be found growing in sub-tropical and tropical all over the world. The Plumeria is a flowering tree and in Hawaiian, is Pua Melia, but Plumeria is the botanical name. This is because of it's delicate fragrance and the fact that it's lasting blooms are used in Hawaiian Leis.
